Feathers are growing on me

Way back when (like, October), I hated working with feathers. They're expensive. They're difficult to manipulate. If they're wonky and kinky, forget it. They're expensive. They rarely look perfect. They're expensive.

But when I was asked to help create a fascinator for a friend's wedding, I had to suck it up, put on my big-girl smock and effing deal with it. And you know what? It ain't that bad. This is, in part, due to a discovery of several wholesalers. I dunno if I've said this or not, but feathers are fucking expensive and buying them in bulk is waaaaaaay more cost effective for my frugal workings.

So, here's what I've been working on in between commissions:

These particular pieces may or may not become available on the etsy, but something very close in resemblance fo sho.

Weddings, hair, stuff and things

My friend and old roomie is getting married this month and she's commissioned a fascinator. Up until a few days ago I had no idea that's what they were called. At this point, though, I relate the root word "fascinate" to the adult toy store Fascinations and it kinda skeeves me out. And maybe makes me a little curious. I dunno.

And if that isn't the perfect lead-in to pictures, I don't know what is...

These aren't necessarily for her (she'll be the first one to see that) but I'm trying to experiment with more ice and gaudy baubles than I normally gravitate towards.

Hair stuffs

Whilst my geriatric machine was on the fritz these last few months, I had to occupy myself with pieces that did not require sewing. I don't wear a lot of hair accessories myself but the seriously talented denizens of etsy inspired some incredible ideas in my brain and they were the perfect project.

Small yellow rosettes

Tuxedo bows

Houndstooth bows

Singed floral headband

Teal singed floral clip

Teeny-tiny turquoise bows

As usual, check out the etsy store to purchase!

Accessories galore

Midterms have come and gone and since I've been playing the part of ambitious student this semester, I didn't have the opportunity to start/finish any larger projects. I did, however, find the time to do some experimenting with accessories...

You can find the last one up on etsy already and the rest should be available within the next week.
